Sommelier &
Wine Director

Brent Braun is the Owner/Wine Director of acclaimed Portland wine restaurant Ok Omens. He is also one half of Post Familiar, a collaborative winery that partners with local winemakers to create one-off experimental wines.

In his early 20's, Brent learned that drinking wine was a paying profession and decided to leave his job at Chili's, as their wine program seemed to be a bit too focused on large format margaritas. Since then he has been a man on a mission in his attempt to demystify wine and add a sense of humor and irreverence to a world that often forgets to laugh at itself.

After dabbling in nearly every capacity of the wine industry, he took over as the Wine Director of Portland institution Castagna in 2013. In 2017 he was named a Food & Wine Magazine's Sommelier of the Year and in 2018 he partnered with the Castagna team to open Ok Omens, a wine focused restaurant highlighting both natural wines and integrity driven classics. Ok Omens has been recognized by Wine Enthusiast as one of the top ‘50 Restaurants in America’ and by the James Beard Foundation as a nominee for ‘Outstanding Wine Program’ nationally.
